SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY

WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor. The counsellor helps you to address your problems in a positive way by helping you to clarify the issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness.

WHO WILL HELP ME?

Our Solution Focused Therapy is delivered by Lauren Arlow.

Lauren is one of our Solution Focused Hypnotherapists.

After years of suffering with extreme anxiety and a period of deep depression she sought help through Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) and it changed everything. SFH helped her turn her life round and create significant, positive change in a very short period of time.

She was so fascinated by the power of hypnotherapy that she trained to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist with the Clifton Practice in Belfast, a recognised Centre of excellence for hypnotherapy and is now registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists and the National Council for Hypnotherapy.

WHAT IS THE MAIN GOAL?
Promote psychological wellbeing and adjustment
Maximise social and educational engagement and
Improve overall well-being in the child/adolescent/family dynamics

LAUREN'S MISSION

We’ve been absorbing old programs and beliefs from birth and these can be so deeply hidden that we end up operating from an unconscious state that can be harmful and confusing to ourselves and others. As a clinical hypnotherapist her goal is to help her clients become conscious of their unconscious, self-sabotaging behaviours and empower them to realise their unlimited potential and achieve their goals.

LAUREN'S VALUES

Kindness – expect to be heard and treated with the utmost respect.
Compassion – expect care and encouragement
No judgement – expect understanding and patience
Confidentiality- expect professionalism and discretion

OTHER GOALS OF LAUREN

·  Normalising therapy (for men in particular) – too many people in NI suffering in silence
·  Encouraging open conversations and connection with others (talk about BM sessions)
·  More psycho education – early intervention- possibly delivering talks in schools
·  Providing clients with the tools/coping strategies to improve their lives
(self-hypnosis recordings – education on how the brain works)

·  Empowering clients- help them regain their own sense of self agency and understanding that they have
   power over their lives.

·  Encourage a growth mindset
·  Create opportunities to build community and connection
·  Better access to treatment, support, knowledge (create online video/courses)
·  Make therapy a less daunting experience
·  Create an environment where the individual feels safe and heard- Educate more on the different therapy
modalities as one mode is not necessarily a solution to all.
·  Spreading the word of what is available in NI.

SOLUTION FOCUSED HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is all about changing our conscious awareness. Our brain wave activity fluctuates all the time, particularly as we enter the different phases of when we go to sleep. During hypnosis the client is guided into relaxation and mental imagery that encourages them to go into a trance state, which causes a natural shift from being in a fully alert mental state (like when we are hectic and busy working during the day – as shown by beta brain wave activity) into other states. As they are guided into deeper levels of relaxation, the brain demonstrates more alpha and theta wave activity, where they feel calmer and more relaxed, but can also visualise images and reflect on different ideas that may be useful to them.

This is why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can be so beneficial, because it combines powerful solution-focused discussions, followed by encouraging a relaxing trance state so that the ideas and solutions discussed can be explored and applied by the brain to create significant positive changes and transformations in the client’s life.

BENEFITS OF SOLUTION FOCUSED HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a healing process of removing all distractions from clients minds while in session.

Once done, clients have the space to speak clearly and directly, forming a nuanced personality to tackle their future endeavours with ease. It does help change the behaviours of a client, but in no way uses manipulation, coercion, or compulsion to achieve the desired result.

There are an array of benefits that come with hypnotherapy for mental health with each passing session you will notice an apparent positive change in personality.

Tackle your fears and phobias:

Hypnotherapy is most popularly used to manage fears and phobias. You probably have a traumatic experience from the past. Facing these situations, similar patterns, behaviours, or objects can bring back unfavourable memories.

Reduce Anxiety & Stress:

Stress and anxiety have sadly, become one of the most common mental health issues. It can arise from anything and everything around you, such as work, school and responsibilities at home.

The mindset can affect your routine in many ways, leading to showing signs in your physical health. Symptoms like dizziness, shaking, constant fatigue, palpitations and breathing problems are some of the many issues caused by untimely panic and stress attacks.

Stress and Anxiety Focused Hypnotherapy can help you release desired hormones to destress. It activates your natural response to calm down: the practice of nonverbal cues such as breathing exercises, using positive affirmations and a quick meditation can help you get control over the situation.

Tackling Sleep Disturbances and Disorders:

The sublime power that a good nights sleep has, shouldn’t be underestimated. It can help you get through the next day with a positive mind and energy, helping you to complete all of your days tasks at ease.

Similarly, disorders like constantly caught sleepwalking and insomnia can lead to sleep deprivation, leading to several serious health issues like obesity, heart problems, weak memory and depression.

While there are many solutions you can try to alleviate this problem. Hypnotherapy is one of the best solutions as the control over sleeping patterns reside in the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy can help the therapist reach your subconscious mind and use verbal and nonverbal positive cues to relax your mind and help you sleep easily.
